your street challenge

If you had a creative magic wand that could change life on Your Street for the better, what would you do?

Your Street Challenge is calling for entries in its latest challenge – Your Street South Africa. With successful projects already on the streets of Cape Town, Johannesburg and Eindhoven, Your Street is asking South Africans to take another look at the streets they live, work or play on. Anyone, anywhere can submit their ideas and become a catalyst for change in their corner of the country!

How it works
Step 1: Conceptualise a genius idea to improve life on your street
Step 2: Tell us about it
Step 3: Become immortalised for your glorious creation!

The most inspiring, exciting, and uplifting ideas will win the cash to make it happen… and street cred of course.

Competition open to all mad scientists, forward thinkers, social activists and creative geniuses.
Quite simply Your Street is about enhancing what is right in front of you: your street,” says Ravi Naidoo, Design Indaba founder. “It’s about walking the talk and reinvigorating your community with the kind of creativity that improves lives – be it through encouraging people to change a bad habit, recycle more or cycle to work, or simply to make people smile, increasing the community’s ‘Gross Domestic Happiness’.”

To date the Your Street Challenge has given away nearly R1 million in cash to urban upgrade projects, and once again cash prizes will be on offer to make the best proposals come to life. For more details including competition rules go to

Entries close Friday 17 May 2013.
Proposals can be submitted through the online entry form at
