the great gatsby headlines cannes 2013.

The Cannes Film Festival is coming soon – it kicks off on Wednesday with a showing of “The Great Gatsby” – and the 12-day festival is always a time for the stars to show off their best fashion choices.

“It’s an insane experience. The entire town is turned into a red carpet. Every hotel is a premiere,” Leonardo DiCaprio said, according to the Huffington Post. “But at the same time, it is the mecca for the world to celebrate filmmaking and bold filmmaking.”
The stars of “The Great Gatsby” – DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Isla Fisher, and Elizabeth Debicki – can be expected – or at least hoped – to show up in their best styles. Perhaps stars from the soundtrack, such as Florence Welch and Lana Del Rey will attend as well. Glamour UK reports that Beyonce and Jay-Z are expected to be in the audience at Cannes.

Carey Mulligan kept it simple but stunning at the New York premiere of “Gatsby”; will she go for a similar look at Cannes?

Other stars to look out for include Ryan Gosling, who stars in the violent thriller “Only God Forgives,” Emma Watson, who stars in Sofia Coppola’s “The Bling Ring,” and Nicole Kidman, who is a member of this year’s Cannes jury. Rooney Mara will also attend, as she will be celebrated at a “Women In Film” party at the festival. The Hollywood Reporter writes that Marion Cotillard, Charlize Theron and Natalie Portman will likely attend.

The Hollywood Reporter writes that this year’s Cannes festival will give the Oscars and the Met Ball “a run for their euros” in terms of fashion.
“Cannes is like two weeks of the Oscars,” said Sahar Sanjar of La Chambre, which represents Saab.
“Red carpets now rule the day — and the red carpet at Cannes is truly for the entire world,” said Carlos Souza of Valentino.

*loving Emma Watson’s white frock, black rock chick ankle boots, Wayfarers, clean cut look. Epitome of cool.
